Sandra Lethem Yeo is an author and professional freelance writer. Her work is published in anthologies, national and regional magazines, newspapers and industry periodicals. She is the author of a book of adult poetry, as well as, children’s poetry and plays. Her writing experience also includes creating advertising and web copy, brochures and newsletters for developers, realtors, retailers, retirement communities and not-for-profit organizations.
I think you know from a very early age if you are a writer; it’s not a decision you make somewhere along the way. I’m happiest when I’m writing whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, poetry or advertising copy for a client. There’s enormous satisfaction in finding the right words to bring a character alive, or to sell a client’s product or service. Both must engage the reader emotionally. Good copywriting should establish a product’s image, position it in the market place and grab the consumer’s attention. I’ve written copy for a wide variety of clients. I enjoy all types of writing whether it’s a single business letter, or a full marketing campaign. Author in the School – I recently had the opportunity to participate in the Jess Harmon Elementary School’s “Camp Write-On”. As the Camp’s “guest author”, I shared my experiences as a writer with over fifty-six 4th graders. Working throughout the day with smaller groups of eight to ten students, it soon became obvious that many of our future authors will be coming from this talented group! My thanks to Mrs. Ramsey, who organized “Camp Write-On, and to all the RISD students who participated.
